How receiving invoices work

Receiving invoices is in many regards similar to an email inbox. Invoices that have been sent by some party to the API-keyholder or its customers will end up in the inbox. This means that the InExchange API has the concept of polling as it does not support notification of when new invoices are ready to fetch. Thus a polling strategy needs to be setup and check the inbox for any new invoices.

Each document type will come with a pre-agreed upon document format and will be specified in the document metadata. This allows for a more customizable approach to different document types and ensures the recipient is able to act differently on different formats. And after the invoice has been successfully processed and accepted it should be marked as handled
